Instrumentation & Measurement Systems

The Instrumentation module comprises the integrated measurement systems used to capture physical behavior across offshore assets. Numeric specifies, integrates, configures, deploys, and maintains fit-for-purpose instrumentation from qualified third-party suppliers, then connects those devices into a unified measurement, data acquisition, and edge-processing architecture.

Sensor Layer

Numeric designs and deploys integrated instrumentation systems to capture physical behavior across offshore and other high-consequence assets. The objective is not simply to install sensors, but to build a measurement layer that is reliable in harsh environments and structured for engineering use from the outset.

  • Environmental and metocean sensing, including ADCPs, wave radar, wind, and oceanographic instruments
  • Motion and position sensing, including GNSS, motion reference units, inclinometers, and accelerometers
  • Load and tension measurement using shear pin load cells, in-line load cells, and tension links
  • Pressure and process monitoring through hardwired and wireless instrumentation
  • Strain-based measurement where conventional load cells are not practical

Measurement Systems

Raw measurements only become useful when they are converted into trusted data. Numeric builds acquisition systems that validate, condition, synchronize, and log incoming signals so they can be used confidently for monitoring, analysis, and operational decision support.

  • Multi-channel acquisition across analog, digital, and network-based devices
  • Signal conditioning, filtering, validation, and logging
  • Time-synchronized datasets for coherent system-level awareness
  • Quality checks before data enters monitoring or engineering workflows
  • Traceable data structures for long-term operational use

Edge Integration

Instrumentation is deployed as part of a broader architecture rather than as an isolated subsystem. Numeric connects the sensor layer into DAQ, SCADA, PI, edge processing, and cloud-connected environments so data can be used locally in real time and shared centrally when required.

  • Integration with edge-resident processing and buffering
  • Secure transmission to on-premise or cloud infrastructure
  • Interfaces for SCADA, PI systems, and higher-level applications
  • Local validation and preprocessing close to the asset
  • Support for brownfield, retrofit, and multi-system environments

Applications

Numeric instrumentation systems are deployed across demanding operational environments where reliability and data quality are critical.

  • Offshore structures and floating production systems
  • Mooring, riser, and tendon monitoring
  • Marine operations and facility integrity programs
  • Hazardous-area retrofit and brownfield deployments
